Listening to Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music This Morning
When you get exhausted by trying to 'keep up' with what is new, when you get tired of how hard people are trying to make something new and different, when things seem too complicated, when you can't find the charger for your cell phone, when your car is running on empty, when you misplace your house keys, when your laptop is running out of battery and you didn't bring the power cord, when the battery in your car remote is shot and you can't open your car door, when you wonder why you have to upgrade operating systems, when you wonder what the heck an operating system is anyway (!), when your IPod is not synched so the music you just got and downloaded or ripped and wanted to hear when you were driving is not on your IPod, when you are just simply and utterly overwhelmed by all the stuff you have to keep up with that just isn't that important, in other words, when push comes to shove, play one of the six sides of Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music and you will once again realize that what is old is new and that the true and real and authentic is really all you need.
