This one was being tossed. In a bin outside a local record shop, a box of damaged old records destined for the trash. I like the typography, and its in good shape and free, but it is only when I get home that I realize that the T-Bones evolved into Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds of 'Don't Pull Your Love' fame from 1971. Not a valuable treasure but an interesting curiosity for sure!
It is only when the record goes on the turntable that I truly appreciate my find. It is a blast from the past, a fresh whiff of 1966....
In 1966, the same guys - Hamilton, Joe....how many I have no idea! - recorded this album of mostly covers including 'The 'In' Crowd,' and 'Thunder Road.' I have a few good versions of 'Thunder Road' on disk and this is another. Great twangy 60s guitar licks, nice roller rink organ swirling underneath and a fresh sounding live production. All instrumentals...
I guess you could call it 'surfer' music, but it is well played - staid but charming.
And It swings. A bit....

Paul, I'm not ashamed to admit that "Don't Pull Your Love" is one of my guilty pleasures in life. I'm such a sucker for 60's and 70's bubblegum pop and one hit wonders!

The great thing about this musical obsession of ours is that there is simultaneously everything and nothing to be ashamed of!
