Root Boy Slim: A White James Brown on LSD?
Crawdaddy has a nice feature called the 'Crate Digger' that uncovers and explores old and obscure dollar bin fodder like this record by Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band. I wish I had a copy myself. But I did get a chance to see him perform in 1978 at Toad's Place in New Haven when I was 19. Unforgettable experience culminating in Root Boy collapsing during his performance of 'Boogie Til You Puke.' Performance art or reality or something more complex?
Not really sure.

I've been hanging on to this chunk of vinyl for some 30 odd years now. It's pretty hilarious all the way through, but you gotta be in the mood. Maybe that was why he was so obesessed with mood rings on the record....

Interesting mood ring theory.
