WKVE Comes To Town
Now, its not quite Vin Scelsa on late night New York City FM radio in 1975, but its close. That is to say, tune into the newest addition to terrestrial radio in Western Pennsylvania - WKVE - The Cave - 103.1 FM - and listen with an open ear. You might be pleasantly surprised. You will hear things you like and dislike, things you have never heard before - and maybe never want to hear again - but the playlist is vast and deep and not limited to familiar and popular over and over and over again.
If you can. The signal is weak - I mean, like college radio weak. It's coming from Mount Pleasant, PA, and sounds like about 5,000 watts and when you are driving around Pittsburgh the signal comes and goes, with static. But the music is almost worth it.
Do you remember staying up late when you were a kid and listening for album tracks on late night radio? Hearing the Doors for the first time late, late at night, poor signal, tinny transsitor radio? That's the vibe I'm getting from WKVE. All day and all night. Who is behind it? Why are they doing it? I mean - don't stop.
And do you need another late night or overnight DJ once a week with a great record collection?
I'm your man.
