Gagosian Shop Pimps Vinyl

I really don't know what to think about this one. Vinyl records must have gotten super trendy or something because the super trendy Gagosian Gallery in New York City has started selling vinyl records. Well, there is more to this story, of course.

According to a piece by Karin Nelson in the Pulse section of today's New York Times 'Sunday Styles,' (http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2010/09/17/fashion/20100919-PULSE-2.html) Gagosian's retail space, Gagosian Shop, is selling 'artist designed albums' ranging in price from $20 to $2,000 -- that is $2,000 for a signed copy of the clear plastic Talking Heads 'Speaking in Tongues' album, signed by artist Robert Rauschenberg.

"Antiquated as they be, vinyl records have been experiencing a bit of a comeback," Nelson writes, "propelled not just by superior sound quality but also the existence of album art."

Antiquated? Please, Karin. Choice of words, choice of words.
