Wilco to start own record label (?)

As reported on the site, Loud: Amplifying Chicago's Music scene, (http://mog.com/blog_posts/2119128/mogbar) :

"Wilco appears to be parting ways with Nonsuch Records with plans to possibly start its own record label. Paste Magazine picked up on an interview Nels Cline gave to Washington D.C. based Express Night Out where the guitarist gave  few details about the band’s label future.

According to the interview with Cline and a followup by Paste with Wilco’s publicist, Deb Bernadini, the contract with Nonesuch will not be renewed and the possibility of Jeffy Tweedy and Co. starting their own label is very real.

Cline and the rest of Wilco will be in the studio in August and October recording their new album for their supposedly new label."

What affect, if any, will this have on the music? It remains to be seen. That's really all that matters to me. it seems like there is less discussion of the music these days and too much business. If I wanted to read the business pages, I would. Its the same in sports.

If the Wilco report IS true, it should come as no surprise. Everyone seems to be bolting major labels and starting their own. After what Wilco went through to get to Nonesuch in the first place, why not start their own! Wonder why they didn't do that in the first place....
