Dear Rob 'Mixtape' Sheffield

Dear Rob Sheffield,

I really enjoyed your 2007 book, 'Love is a Mixtape,' a touching and funny memoir about your relationship with your late wife and the music you both loved. I must say I didn't expect it to be so good - very moving and personal and, in parts, hilarious as well. Your columns in  the Rolling Stone didn't prepare me for your personal insight. So, for years I looked at the book on the shelves of our local Borders and Barnes and Noble's and thumbed the pages but never went further. Should have given it a chance sooner. It is a great book - I didn't want it to end.

Why did I like it so much? Well, first off,  we like some of the same music, but you introduced me to some new bands, too. So, thanks to you I have a new list of songs I want to hear. But it really isn't as a music book  that makes 'Love is a Mixtape' so strong and unexpected - I might have guessed you would know alot of great music! No, what makes your book so powerful is the way you weave your life of listening into the story of your relationship with Renee and its sudden and tragic conclusion. That took me by surprise. By the second chapter, I was hooked. I liked you and wanted to learn more about your story.

So, I am recommending the book to all of my friends and eagerly await your next tome.

Thanks!

Best,

PAUL
