Katy Perry (and Bob Dylan)
Music just makes me and so many other people feel good. Or better. You just need to to hear familiar sounds. Or new ones. Big beats and howling electric guitar licks. or the tang and the twang of an acoustic guitar and the plaintive cry of a sincere sounding voice. The music is everything and nothing.. It is absorbing and background. It is Bob Dylan and Katy Perry - Katy Perry unplugged? Really!
I have never heard or read a good explanation of why music is so powerful and compelling and universal but I have finally given up trying to understand and have just accepted that it is. It simply is the most and it keeps on coming, year after year, every generation listens to their own beats and words and wears their own fashions and puts up with the older folks telling them that the older stuff is better. And here is Adele singing My Old Hometown on TV, unplugged, just acoustic and sounding great. It's for young musicians and old. You just have to play it straight.
And here is Chris Martin walking towards me in some alley, on screen in high def, trying to fix you.
