Rick Fixes My Speaker
Our friends Rick and Charissa visited a few weeks ago. We haven't seen them in a while and Rick has been sick, so it was good to catch up.
After about an hour, I mentioned that one of my 70s vintage Speakerlab speakers was acting up - bad contact. Rick said,"I can fix that."
And so, after a brief field trip to Radio Shack for equipment and parts, Rick got down to business. With my son and I acting as his assistants, Rick proceeded to repair my speaker. First he removed the mid-range - I helped - so he could reach into the cabinet. Then he bypassed some wires and soldered in some new, re-attached the speaker and turned the cabinet over on its face and finally replaced the contacts. After a little more than two hours, Rick had fixed my speaker.
Now, I can really enjoy the sound of my speakers. Before, the speaker wire was always in danger of coming undone to the severe detriment of the sound of the records. My records are in funky enough playing condition as it is. Now, no more problem.
Thanks, Rick.
Oh, BTW: can anyone tell me what Speakerlab model number this is? Just curious.
