My new silver Odyssey DJ bag

I just got a silver
DJ bag, from Odyssey. I LOVE it. My wife thinks its ugly, my daughter just laughs. My son, I don't know - I haven't really asked him - but given the way close relatives are trending, I'd guess he'd laugh, too.

I still think its a great bag. I got it because every week I lug some of my records to and from the class that I teach. I used to use a plastic bag I got from the Plaatboef in Rotterdam, but it doesn't provide much protection. So, I thought: I need a DJ bag. This is what DJs do - lug records to gigs. Now my records are warm and protected by the ballistic nylon fabric and the heavy interior padding.

I'm excited about my new bag. On my way home teaching on Tuesday, I bumped into my friend Matt, who also teaches Tuesday nights. "Hey, Matt," I say, "How are you? How do like my new bag?"

Great conversation starter, heh?

Have I said that the bag is great? Not only is it large enough for about 25 records, it has compartments for CDs, for cameras and phones and other miscellaneous things. Not only does it have handles and knapsack straps, but it also has a handy shoulder strap.

My wife thinks I have a bag fetish. I don't have that many and none of the other bags we have would work as well. One is padded but too small, another is large enough but unpadded and anyway, it is open on the top - what if it rains?

But now I'm ready for anything nature can throw at me. My bag is there to protect me, or rather, the records that I love.
